Creating a Missouri State Blackboard Account

Blackboard accounts are created when a Missouri State Active Directory Account is created. If you already have an Active Directory Private ID established, skip to step 3 below.

To create an Active Directory Account you need to have:

Please follow the steps below:

  1. Obtain an Active Directory account online by going to the Missouri State Computer Account Management System page (link will open a new browser window).
  2. Once you have created your Active Directory Account, change your temporary Active Directory Account password (link will open a new browser window).
    • Blackboard accounts are generated between 8:00 a.m and 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Accounts are generated within 1-2 hours during the first 3 weeks of the semester and within 2-4 hours during the rest of the semester.
  3. Set your Blackboard password by going to the Lost Password Form (link will open a new browser window), fill out the top portion -- using your Private ID as your Username -- and submit the form (don't let the name of the form confuse you).
  4. Check your Missouri State Bearmail account (link will open a new browser window) for a message from the Blackboard system to complete the Blackboard account creation process.
  5. Find your Course and Enroll once you are able to log in to Blackboard. At the “My Missouri State” page,
    1. Click the “Courses” tab to access the “Courses” area.
    2. Type your course id in the course search box, then click the “ GO! ” button.
    3. Find your course in the listing, click the “ Enroll ” button to the right of the course title.
    4. Review the course information,  click the “ Submit ” button to add your name to the course site roster. (Enter the access code if your instructor gave you one.)
    5. Click “ OK ” to access your course.

Missouri State Faculty and Staff can also receive their Active Directory Account by presenting their ZipCard™ at Cheek Hall 164 at the distribution window.

Students registered for classes in the current or following semester can also receive their Active Directory Account by presenting their ZipCard™ at one of three open-access computer labs: Cheek Hall 150, Glass Hall 228, 229, 234, 235, or Strong Hall 107.
